A Special Mother’s Day Blessing for Moms Everywhere

What would we do without our fabulous moms?

Since it was first conceived by Julia Ward Howe (the composer of the Battle Hymn of the Republic) in 1870, and officially established by President Woodrow Wilson in 1914, Mother’s Day has become a proud American tradition that’s now also observed in more than 70 countries worldwide. Americans are expected to spend a staggering $23.6 billion celebrating Mother’s Day this year.

Moms are the glue that holds families together. Being a mom is like no other job in the world, and her job is never done. Unlike a typical nine-to-five job, motherhood is a lifelong career based on pure, unconditional love. While she’s responsible for so much, her efforts are often taken for granted and go unappreciated. As Mother’s Day approaches, let’s reach out to all the moms in our lives to remind them how loved and valued they are, and let’s honor them with this celebratory blessing from Dayspring:

Dear God,

Thank you for your endless provisions of grace and mercy. We come to you today to lift up every woman who answers to the name of “mom.” We ask that you supply each one with the strength they need for those difficult days. Give them wisdom to know when to encourage and when to correct their children. Supply them with an extra dose of patience. Remind them that children are a heritage and a reward from You and shower them with special moments they can cherish. We also ask that you draw them close to you daily. Remind them of their worth in Your eyes - that they, too, are cherished children of a loving Father. We pray for contentment in this very special calling. May every mom realize that this is a mission from You, one that brings truly great rewards in the end.

Amen

Say a prayer for moms around the world. And we hope you’ll also take a moment to share this article with the very special moms in your life and let them know they’re loved, blessed, and appreciated.
