Obituary of Clara Mae Castle

Clara Castle was born on December 21, 1941 to the late Fred and Christine Reed Rivers in Chesterfield County, South Carolina. At an early age she and her family relocated to Philadelphia where she received her education in the Philadelphia school system, she attended Simon Gratz High School. On August 19th, 1968 she married Claude McKenny Castle in Philadelphia. Clara was baptized and received Christ at Fletcher Street Baptist Church. Clara was loving and fully devoted wife, she had three loving children; Marcella, Thomas and Larry Rivers Clara spent her years at home being a care giver to her children and grandchildren. She was known as the cook on the block. Clara was known for her baking and having events to bring everyone together. Everyone called her mom in the neighborhood. She was loving and always willing to help those who were in need. She loved spending time with her friends and family and most important her ladies nights in her dining room. She was preceded in death by her loving parents Fred and Christine Rivers, her four brothers Fredlee, Lonnie, Larry, Charles Rivers, one sister Frances Booker. She leaves to mourn, her sister Lillian Gambrell, her children Marcella, Thomas and Larry Rivers (who preceded her in death) one bonus daughter Alfreda Clark. Nine grandchildren Nakkia Mitchell, Lakeisha Johnson, Tyra Rivers, Tiffany Jones, Calvin Jones, Tiara Rivers, Thomas Rivers, Cahjir Rivers. Fourteen great grandchildren, Amirah, Nadira, Jaden, Nair, Nasir, Basir, Mekhi, Bria, Matthew, Ma'hala, Kash, Maison, Breyon and Breydon. Her dear friend Pauline Bell, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
