Obituary of Barbara Ann Goodwine
Please share a memory of Barbara to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Barbara Ann Goodwine was born on June 12,1942 in Columbia, S.C. to the late Pauline Sulton and Frank Green. Barbara grew up in Columbia, S.C., but later moved to the Bronx, N.Y. with her husband, Jobie Goodwine and from there she moved to Philadelphia, P.A. to be near her sister. She departed this life on Saturday, September 24, 2024, at 11:36 a.m. and is now resting in peace with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was baptized as a child at Zion Baptist Church in Columbia, S.C. and educated in the public school system in Columbia, S.C., attending Howard Elementary and Booker T. Washington High School.
Barbara received a Certificate in Cosmetology from Wilfred Academy and worked in several beauty salons throughout the Philadelphia area. She also worked for many years in the health care industry. Aunt Barbara, as she was lovingly referred to, was a kind, loving individual who was always caring for the elderly as well as giving to those in need. She was an avid gardener, always working in her garden, planting flowers, and caring for her hostas.
She loved music and was a fantastic dancer. She also served as a block captain for many years, organizing many block parties on holidays. She participated in numerous games and interacted with all the children in her neighborhood, to their utter delight. They really loved their "Aunt Barbara", and she loved them. She also really loved shopping with her sister. On the weekend they would hit as many malls as possible on a single day. She will truly be missed by her sister.
Barbara leaves to cherish her memories, her beloved sister, Constance Bulls, her only sibling; her niece Jacquie Jackson Dukes; her nephews, Darryl, and Derek Bulls; grandnieces, Shanna Miles, Dr. Brooke Boyd and their spouses, Jovan Miles and Travis Boyd, respectively; grand-niece, Jailyn Bulls; great-grand nieces, Iliana and Savannah Miles and great-grand nephews Tate and Bryce Boyd; cousins, Rev. Dr. SanDawna Gaulman Ashley, Rosalind Gaulman, Sandra Henry, Darlene James, Roderick and Frederick Gaulman; her best friend Cora Coles and a host of other relatives and friends who will always cherish her memory.
Sorrowfully submitted by the family.
