In 1978, we bought our home in Thorndale directly next door to Jones, Marion, Lisa and Jennifer. The very first person to welcome us to the community was "Jonesy". We had heard a lot of nice things about him and his family, and it didn't take long to realize that it was all true.
There were so many good times enjoyed with Jones, including no small number of evenings shooting pool in his lovely home.....and he "cleaned my clock" more often than not! And in the summer, the girls would often come over for a refreshing swim in the pool.
It wasn't all shooting pool or swimming, as Jones was quick to display his generosity and concern when he could.....and he did.
Then there were also those not-so-good times when, as neighbors often do, we had a falling out that sadly lasted far too long due to two stubborn men who refused to be the first to blink. But it was Jones who extended the olive branch in response to a simple sympathy card from us at his beloved Marion's passing.
A deep void was now filled, but today his family and our Thorndale community deals with another empty feeling over the loss of a great man to so many. It was all too sudden with little chance to say goodbye, but today we take pleasure in our memories of Jonesy and we join him in celebrating his new eternal life.
